A full weekend of work for a luxury full service bride- we planned out all her looks which consisted of rehearsal hair and makeup, full wedding day with bridal party, family, and concierge until ceremony, then again for their farewell brunch the next morning!

So much of my physical body & surrounding life has been urging me to slow down lately. Be more present with my babies while they’re still babies. Quality time with who’s most important.

I’ve taken on so much in the last decade, having multiple businesses and all that comes along with it- from finances, strategies, marketing, running teams, to overseeing systems, networking, and don’t forget the full time job of social media…

I’ve always placed value in productivity, which I don’t see changing anytime soon, but managing it all with homeschooling 3 young kids, I’ve learned to set boundaries with myself, and find help where needed.

Has anyone here had help with their social media? I’d love to have a conversation surrounding & what that looked like for you. I value my time and respect others more than anything, so the goal is to find balance and peace within my own life & not feel like I need my face forced into a screen in order for my main brands to survive.

AI and very overly edited photos have been a common request for years, and I honestly don’t mind them, as long as the client has realistic expectations for themselves. We have pores, and texture to our skin, and that’s ok! Makeup and us as artists can only do so much, but taking care of your skin prior to our apt helps tremendously.

So when @nicalarochelle asks for any beauty services, I always jump on that opportunity, bc she really takes care of her skin, and is so beautiful before I even touch her! We always enjoy our time together & she wears any look so perfectly!

@the_greenbrier was such a fun change in scenery for this lovely wedding! Nothing like a 5am wake up, but we got creative so that I was still nourished before heading to work a longer day. Often times we don’t stop our work for the bathroom or to hydrate/eat, bc the goal is to always get finished in good timing, and no bridal party wants to start earlier than they need too. That being said, our morning prep is essential!

Brianna was such a fun bride! She was a makeup only client for me, with @hairbytorr on her boho half up style.

We decided to make a few changes from her preview swapping to @armanibeauty foundation for a little more coverage with a satin finish.
& since she had gotten such a tan, we went a little bolder on her eyes with @diorbeauty shadows for a pop. Decided to go a little more pink with a cream blush and topped off with a touch of @yslbeauty powder blush & @bobbibrown highlighter.

Being given a complete style switch up on wedding day would cause a lot of stylists to complain. Maybe they didn’t allot enough time, maybe they wouldn’t have the right tools or products, maybe they weren’t mentally prepared.

While yes, that may happen depending on what’s being requested, but I believe that part of being an artist means being ingenious. Thinking on our feet, being inventive, creative, and spontaneous at times is necessary. Thankfully I feel that is a strength of mine and why it doesn’t bother me too much when these situations arise. It also shows that your client has full trust in your skillset, which this bride expressed that morning. I do wish I had some extensions to bulk out this look overall, but she was so happy!

I also LOVE when a client asks for something outside of what has been requested on repeat. To pull me out of the artistic rut that we are sometimes forced to be in is always refreshing.

They ask: Why do you only take a limited number of bookings each year?! Why do you only take a small number of services on wedding day?

The short answer- Quality. Attention to detail.

Long answer- To be truly attentive and present with each client that sits with me, reading their energy to best serve them. To effectively help my team to flourish. To work on my business rather than always in it, bc any business owner knows that work is endless. To be the best mom I can to my 3 young kids, while they’re young. I hustled young and early on to build my brands so I can be intentional now.

The difficult part about working with luxury clientele, is that they can often sign NDAs that don’t allow you to use their photos, but to the clients that do- thank you! It helps to keep my work current & show your beautiful faces that I love so much!

Who says that luxury needs to be stuffy or overly serious? There’s a time and place for that, and that’s why you’ll never see me working on wall street or in a cubical.

I wasn’t made to be subtle, and at this point in my life, I think we all could use some genuine enjoyment in life. I was way too serious about everything for the majority of my time here, and that just doesn’t feel fulfilling anymore. Especially not surrounding weddings and such a celebratory, exciting time.

The inner sense of self- I was born with. The drive to be self made & not rely on anyone else to support my lifestyle- came from losing everything after a failed, abusive first marriage (last photo) & growing up in a very strict lifestyle religion.

I promised to myself that I would never go through that again or allow another person to control who I was, what I did, my income, how I dressed, or who I spent time with. I broke free.

I do my best to help other women do the same & feel accomplished in what they’re doing. It’s a snowball effect, especially in the beauty industry, when our main goal is to help others feel amazing.

Luxury is in the details. Getting those details perfect takes time & I’m here for it.

Artists used to take most of their lifetime to create a masterpiece, yet most hair and makeup artists or wedding vendors overall are hurried through their work. I personally don’t feel that as artists, we should need to rush through our small masterpieces.

Should we be efficient? Yes, and I prob take a little too much time getting to know my clients during the previews, but we only want the absolute best for every bride in our chair. I’m hand crafting each custom look completely from scratch, given different versions of a canvas every single time. Perfection shouldn’t be rushed.

Summertime is always our favorite time of year when we go on beach adventures and explore new places!

This year, in between our beach trips we have a goal to build a big treehouse in our backyard & the kids will be fully involved with design, budgeting, building, and decorating!

I blink, and she’s 5 years in, winning an award for recital this weekend. Her 4th recital, after a year of mommy and me & every year I cry bc I’m so proud of who she is as a person.

Anyone who knows Stevie, knows how sweet and heartfelt she is. Shes often shy in public settings, but told me today that she loves being on stage. She has loved her experience with @coalescecda since her first tip toe through the tulips as an 18month little love.

Sometimes it takes “finding your people” to fully find yourself. When Kiersten applied originally to work with us years ago we weren’t hiring at the time, so I recommended to reapply a few months later bc I was in the trenches of early mom life and running the business fully by myself.

Boy am I glad she didn’t give up, bc we have both have blossomed as people since being together & I’m so thankful for her friendship. I honestly never thought I’d find a friend that loves style, fashion, creativity, and music like I always have. We may be stubborn, but we are passionate, true, and loyal as hell. Happy Birthday to another Taurus Queen!

My life and business are so much better with you in it!! 🤍 I’m so thankful to grow beside each other, raising our babies, building businesses, and having a blast doing it all!

There’s so much more that goes into being an artist & especially an entrepreneur than what’s shown. Having multiple income streams can be really exhausting in hope it pays off. Some days I wish I could just cancel everything and lay on our new hammock outside. Sometimes it looks like quality time with your kids is washing brushes. But we are choosing these hard things to show our babies that it’s possible.

Every day is a teaching opportunity and we want them to know how to work hard and work smart.

The sweetest card I’ve ever received from my 3 little tulips. I was a puddle when they gave this to me all handmade & coordinated by our lovely Ms. Laura. How did I get so lucky to have 3 of the most incredible little humans by my side? I cry every time I think about it.
